The Apostle Sha’ul, aka, Paul

Setting the Record Straight

The Everlasting Covenant, passed down to Noah-Shem-Eber-(Hebrew)-Israelite-Nasarean-Essene-Ebionite-Netsarim were gradually undermined, subverted, and redefined by the developing proto-Orthodox Christians of the 2nd & 3rd centuries. This “coup” was solidified in the councils and creeds of the 4th and 5th centuries under the Roman Emperor Constantine and those who followed. The resultant sect of “The Holy Roman Catholic Church” over the centuries produced offspring—the protestant and evangelical sects of Christianity, most of whom have maintained (with minor deviations) its main doctrines and calendar.

The leaders of the “coup” conceptionally created a pseudo-Jesus and a pseudo-Gospel, along with a pseudo-Paul. The real Apostle, Sha’ul / Saul, possibly renamed, Pallu, meaning distinguished (Ex. 6:14), and turned into the Latin name, Paulos (Paul). Sha’ul himself predicted that this coup would happen in 2 Cor 11:4 & Acts 20:29-30. And this “coup” is perpetuated by their creeds and pseudo-interpretations and translations of the redacted New Testament. Not only so, but, it is recorded by a couple of Christians that Ebionites rejected his writings. Of course, it was Christians who made these claims as part of their efforts to delegitimize the Essene-Ebionite-Netsarim, Vege-Fruitarians who were the true heirs of the Original Gospel of Yeshúa, under the leadership of Ya’aqob his brother (James) and other family members, Magdalena,[1]falsely accused and slandered unto this day — see the Original Gospel at Chapter 10., the 12 Apostolic Teams and the Elders. What some Ebionites may have rejected, however, was the false portrayal of the real Sha’ul, under the name, Paulos (Paul). I have read those who made various claims about him: That he was delusional; That he was an Apostate; That he was a secret agent for the Romans; That he was an initiate of Mithraism; That he never existed. This foolish slander immediately alerts us that the accusers are themselves, in some way, the product of what they accuse Sha’ul of. In order to correct the record, we must re-contextualize his writings and translate them correctly. We have already established some context of his writings HERE in Part II of The Original Food. We will add further insights on this page.

Both Men and Women in Ministry

Particular groups think that Sha’ul was against women in ministry — that they are to remain silent in the “church” and forbidden to teach. Let us deal with passages that supposedly promote such doctrine. There are two different settings, addressing two different issues and both of them (1 Corinthians 14:34 & 1 Timothy 2:12) are commonly misunderstood, mistranslated, and then weaponized against him (and women!). We have two extremes on the spectrum. One extreme on one end and another at the other extreme.

Firstly, in 1 Corinthians, Sha’ul is teaching the orderly (without confusion) and peaceful operation of spiritual gifts by both men and women, correcting SOMEONE ELSE’S assertions made in a letter addressed to him.

Sha’ul mentions in 1 Corinthians 11:5, “…every woman that prays or prophesies…”,[2]We will break down Chapter 11 in another section. But, he is probably quoting from their letter to him, as THEY were arguing their gentile custom concerning women wearing a head covering when they … Continue reading and in 1 Cor 14:31 says, “For you may ALL prophesy one by one…” That means both genders.

Sha’ul had written a letter to the Corinthians that we no longer possess (5:9 “I wrote to you in a letter…”). Further, they wrote back to him a letter that we also no longer possess (“Now concerning the things whereof you wrote to me…1Cor 8:1). In response to questions and erroneous statements THEY MADE to him in that letter, he commented and even quoted back to them THEIR OWN statements. Since we do not possess the first letter that he wrote to them, nor the letter written back to him, the context can be difficult and this ‘back and forth’ conversation is not easily discerned. Sometimes, he quotes back to them what THEY SAID to him in the letter, and then responds to it. This is one of those instances.

He says, in 1 Cor 14:31 in summary,

31 “For you may ALL prophesy one by one…” (men and women)

Then he quotes back to them a statement from their own letter, in verses 34-35:

34 “Let your women keep silence… 35 …for it is a shame for women to speak in the Assembly.”

Then Sha’ul retorts in opposition to this statement:

36 “What?! Has the word of Elohim gone out from you, or has it come to you only?”

If we notice the verses before and after this quotation, we find that he is actually contradicting the statements THEY MADE in verses 34-35. When read in this light, the entire passage becomes clear. He is actually saying:

“Women DO NOT have to be silent” and, IT IS NOT a shame for them to speak in the Assembly and, “the Law DOES NOT teach those things”!

The Libertine “Jezebel” Gnostics

The second passage, 1 Timothy 2:12, deals with a SEPARATE issue from 1 Corinthians 14 – on the other extreme end of the spectrum. He is forbidding a particular group of female teachers (at least temporarily until they learn correctly, along with their —Ahab— husbands). These are described as — Jezebel —. And these I describe as, Libertine Gnostics, who say things like:

“All things are lawful to me” 1 Cor 6:12. (Another statement falsely attributed to Sha’ul!) These PARTICULAR female-teachers were out of order and bringing their false-teaching into the congregation and, attempting to USURP themselves in the congregation OVER both men and women, including their husbands, as if their secret “knowledge” raised them up into a superior position. Therefore, we have a ban of these particular women —the Jezebel— teachers, which is also a rebuke of their manipulated and docile husbands and men enslaved to their passions—until they learn proper Netsarim Essene doctrine, repent, and amend their doctrines and ways. Here, these are described:

“But I have against you that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, the one who calls herself a prophetess, and teaches and deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food [flesh] sacrificed to idols.”

Revelation 2:20

Timothy was left in the city of Ephesus, and charged by Sha’ul to correct various and erroneous teachings — especially a false form of Gnosticism, which was inserting pagan mythology and ideology into the Scriptures of the Hebrews, just as the priests in the Old Testament had formerly done with their bloody pagan rituals. This movement was infiltrating the Netsarim-Essene congregations even at this early date.

3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain ones [men and women] not to teach differently, 4 nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies [origin stories, i.e., The Secret Book {Apocryphon} of John], which cause disputes rather than the stewardship of Elohim, which operates by faithfulness. Now, the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and an unhypocritical faithfulness. 6 Some [men and women] have strayed from these and turned away to empty discussion…20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander…

1 Timothy 1:3-6

The issue of a counterfeit Gnosticism is bookended at the beginning and the end of 1 Timothy.

O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” [Gnosticism] 21 for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you [all].

1 Timothy 6:20-21 ESV 2011; Brackets mine

(Note: There is a true and a false gnosticism. There is a true Gnosticism contained in the Scriptures of the Hebrews, explicit and implicit. If we learn the authentic we can recognize the counterfeits. But we avoid the term as it would associates one with the heresy.)

The Natural Order

Sha’ul lays out the natural and functional and societal order of creation in chapter two of 1 Timothy. (He does so also in 1 Corinthians 11, which we will also explain.) Thereby, he sets straight the false claims of some gnostic groups that Eve (Ḥawwah) was exalted over her husband Adam having received secret knowledge (gnosis) from the Serpent. Using such falsehood, they attempted to USURP and DOMINATE others (authentein: a vulgar seductive dominance. This is not the normal word used for authority, which is: exousia). Thus, the instruction about modest apparel. And thus, a notice and temporary ban of such “Jezebel” and “Ahab” teachers. Eve was deceived but She and They (these under the spell of deception) will be made whole by the promised “childbirth” of the Seed (the Messiah, the Netsar Gen. 3:15; Is 11:1), by learning properly and then, by continuing “in faith(fulness) and love and sanctification with soundness of mind.” (In the same way, straying men are delivered from their inherent imbalances and evil propensities!) These, once instructed properly, will take their place as leaders also.

1Tim 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and dispute. 9 Likewise also [without anger and dispute] the women should adorn themselves in appropriate clothing, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold jewelry or pearls or expensive clothing, 10 but with good works, which are fitting for women who are proclaiming [epaggellomenais – preaching!] reverence for Elohim [Ḥasiduth]. 11 Let a woman [a new convert and novice] learn quietly with all submissiveness [to the spiritually mature men and women]. 12 I do not permit [such] a woman to teach or to usurp authority over a man [as do the “Jezebel” Gnostics]; rather, she is to rest in quietness [learning and maturing]. 13 For [contrary to their teaching] Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman [Eve] was deceived and became a transgressor [first]. [3]Adam, without seeking counsel from Elohim, may have transgressed out of love, in order to rescue his wife! 15 Yet [as the Scripture proclaimed], she [Eve] will be made whole through childbearing [that is, the promised birthing of “her Seed”, the Messiah, in Gen. 3:15] —if they [all women, including these women under the spell of deception] continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.

Adam was not deceived as was Eve. With or without counsel from Elohim, out of love, he deliberately chose to transgress, reasoning that this was the only way to save his wife and rectify creation. But, the last Adam, rectified matters by obedience, provided the redemption and rectification for his bride/wife, which is his people. Thus Sha’ul declared in another place:

“For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were established sinners [by their deeds and the law of ‘sowing and reaping’ or the karma set in motion], so by the one man’s obedience the many will be established righteous [by the same].

Romans 11:19

But Sha’ul received the teaching from Yeshúa:

Truly I say to you, they who believe and obey this Toráh [I have given] shall be delivered, and they who know and obey it not, shall be lost. 25 But as in Adam all die so in Mashíakh shall all be made alive. And the disobedient shall be purged through many fires; and they who persist shall descend and shall perish eternally.”

The Gospel of the Holy Twelve 46:25

Let us now consider 1 Corinthians 10:31 – 11:16, remembering again, that Sha’ul is responding to a letter from the Corinthians that we no longer possess. So, as we have shown previously, he is correcting their assertions. Not much commentary is needed here after we have discerned who is saying what in the conversation!

1 Cor. 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Elohim. 32 Be no cause of stumbling to Judæans or to Hellenists or to the Assembly of Elohim, 33 just as I seek to be amenable to all in all, not seeking my own profit, but that of the many, that they may be delivered. 11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Mashiakh.

2 Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all. And maintain the traditions, [the paradosis of the Essene-Saints – the Netsarim] just as I transmitted them to you. 3 But [in lieu of our next topic] I want you to perceive [the natural and functional order of this love] that the head of every man is Mashiakh; the head of a woman is the man; and the head of Mashiakh is Elohim [the Father-Mother of All];

[Now concerning the customs that you describe, of which you wrote to me, saying:]

4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, 5 but every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaved. 6 For if a woman will not cover her head, then she should be shaved. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. 7 For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of Elohim, but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. 9 Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 [And you say,] This is why a woman ought to have [a symbol of] authority on her head—because of the angels.

11 But rather [I declare] in the Master (Maryá), a woman is not independent of a man nor a man of a woman; 12 for as woman was from out of the man, so the man is made by the woman. And all are out of Elohim.

[And, according to your assumptions, you say:]
13 Judge in yourselves: Is it appropriate for a wife to pray to Elohim with her head uncovered? 14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him?

15 On the contrary, [I say,] if a woman has long hair, it is her glory! For her hair is given to her for a covering!
[So then, the conclusion: it is not inappropriate for a woman to pray to Elohim with her head covered or uncovered! And, No! it is not a disgrace for a man to have long hair—consider the Nazirites who do not cut their hair; Nor, does it dishonor Mashiakh if a man prays or prophesies with his head covered; Nor, does a woman dishonor her husband if she prays or prophesies with her head uncovered.]

16 If anyone presumes to be contentious, we do not hold such customs [as you describe], nor do the Assemblies of Elohim.
[Yet, there are lawful customs and expedient reasons for both men and women to cover their heads. Consider the priests who cover their heads in the sanctuaries and the women in modesty and in honour of their husbands cover themselves—as did Rebekah before Isaac (Gen. 24:67). And, again, remember the principles in 10:31 – 11:1.]

( 1 Cor. 11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Mashiakh.)
