The Original Natsârím

The Hebrew name of “ha’Adón Yahwshúa ha’Mashíach” evolved into “the Lord Jesus the Christ)” in English. The form Y’Shúa or Yeshúa was an abbreviated way to write the original name. It was pronounced as, YahwShúa—it was anglicized as Joshua. YahwShúa has come down to us in the hybrid form of Jesus, via Greek and Latin. (See in Articles, The Names)

The Original name of the followers of Yahwshúa ha’ Natsrí ha’Mashíach was the Natsârím (or, Nazareans). They were not called Christians until later. This would make them known as Nazarean Christian Jews, translated from Natsrei-Mashiachim. They were from various Jewish sectors during the 1st Century A.D., who followed Yahwéh Elohíym and His covenants made with their ancestors. They, as Jews and Israelites, embraced Yahwshúa ha’ Natsrí (or, Jesus of Nazareth, or Jesus the Nazarean) as his mission and ministry unfolded before them. They embraced him as “the coming one” foretold by our prophets, with undeniable proofs and miraculous works.

He was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, in the region of the Sea of Galilee. Contrary to lies uttered by some, Yahwshúa was the bodily offspring of his father Yoséph by his pure and legitimate wife, Miryám, and thus, he was a true descendant and heir of King David, of Jesse/Yishai, and thus, a Yessean/Essean (a particular sect of the Essenes). He was foreordained and predestined by his God, the God of Israel – Yahwéh Elohíym; He was born, trained, called, chosen; He was consecrated and anointed as the King-Priest–the Messiah of Israel, by the Aharonic Priest and Prophet, Yoḥanan Ben Zaḥaryâh – (John the Baptist, who was identified as the coming “Elijah”; Mt 11:13-14; Lk 1:17; Malachi 3:1; 4:5). With perfect fidelity, he carried out the will of his Elohíym even to the point of betrayal and death by execution.

His Baptismal Consecration and Coronation

At the time of his baptismal consecration and coronation, Yahwshúa was anointed by Yahwéh, the Most High, with His seven-fold spirit (Isaiah 11:1; 2; 3; 4;), and, his Kingly-Messianic-Sonship was audibly proclaimed from the Heavens: “You are My son, this day have I begotten you.” and, “This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.”” The “word became flesh” at this time. He predicted his own betrayal, execution, and resurrection; He died and was buried, and raised from the dead by Yahwéh the Father; He ascended to His Throne at the Father’s right hand; From thence he came in the glory of the Father in judgment upon the unfaithful of the Land in 66-70 C.E., and resurrected the dead saints into his kingdom. But some of these things were viewed only by those whose eyes were opened to see that which was occurring within the invisible realm around them, even as Elisha prayed in 2Kings 6:17. Yahwshúa told his disciples, “To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all these things are done in parables (Mk 4:11).” All this was in accordance with the Father’s eternal plans to carry out His eternal purposes and establish His eternal kingdom.

King Messiah Yahwshúa, was raised bodily from the dead and his body was transformed. He was made the firstborn son of the new creation. He and his emissaries, proclaimed his message to their own transitional last days generation1)This generation was in the 1st Century from 30-70 AD “The last/latter days” refer to that final 40-year generation that has now long passed. Those “last days” began with John the Baptist in AD 30 and culminated with the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in AD 70 by the Roman Army under Titusand recorded it for us. In summary, this is what they proclaimed:

1) —That, Yahwéh Elohíym is establishing a Messianic Kingdom based upon a New Covenant as He had promised–and that, the time of fulfillment was near; However, the kingdom would not be exactly as they expected;

2) —That, through Yahwshúa, the prophet like Moses, a New Covenant Age with “Israel and Judah” is being established, as the prophet Jeremiah and Ezekiel had announced; Their Age was culminating and the next Age was on the verge of beginning — all of which was to occur within their own terminal and transitional generation known as “the last days”; All previous covenants had served as the ‘scaffolding’ for the construction of these ultimate purposes;

4) — That, the commandments of Yahwéh will remain binding until the end of the new age (which is our own present age);

5) —That, all the righteous dead from Adam and Eve forward will be resurrected out of the underworld where they were safely held and will be transformed and translated into the Highest of Heavens – into the New Jerusalem; while the wicked would suffer a different destiny; The new age was about to be inaugurated and will last “until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet.” Death is the last enemy that will be destroyed with a final judgment, a New Heaven and a New Earth.

Yahwshúa gave a prophetic sign to all in the year 33 A.D., and this “Revelation” was made known to all and was to confirm these new covenant realities being proclaimed. He prophesied that there would be a future invasion of Judea and Jerusalem within a generation and that the Temple would be destroyed. His words came to pass in 66-70C.E., just as he spoke them. And, in symbolic language, the Book of Revelation describes this period of “great tribulation” with its underlying invisible events, realities, and aftermath. Accordingly, we now live within the age of this new reality; But, its full effects are yet to be realized. As it was said:

Here is the endurance of the qedoshím (saints): here are they (the Netsârím) that keep (nâtsár) the commandments (mitswóth) of Elohíym and the faithfulness (emunáth) of Yahwshúa (the Nĕtsér). And I heard a voice from the Heavens saying to me, “Write: Blessed are the dead which die in the Master (ha’Adon) from now on.” Rev 14:12

Yahwshúa is the Nătsér and his followers 
are the Natsârím of whom it was prophesied:

Is 11:1; 10; “But there shall come forth a shoot (choter) from the stock of Jesse, and a sprout (Nĕtsér) from his roots (sheresh). 2 And the spirit of Yahwéh will rest upon him…10 It will happen in that day that the nations will seek the root (shoresh) of Jesse, who stands as a banner of the peoples; and his resting place will be glorious.
Is 42:1; 4; 6; 7; “Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delights— I have put my spirit on him… 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice in the earth, and the islands will wait for his Torah.” … 6 I, Yahwéh Elohíym, called you in righteousness, and I shall hold your hand, and I will strengthen you; and I gave you for a covenant of a people, for a light of nations; 7 to open the eyes of the blind, to lead out of bonds ones being tied; from out of the house of prison also ones sitting in darkness.

Is 49:6 “Is it an small matter to be a servant for me, to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved [natsarí] of Israel. I will give you as a light to the nations, to be my salvation [yeshuah] to the end of the earth.”

Isaiah 52:13 “My servant prospers and will be exalted and extolled, and be very high”… Is 53:1; 2; 7; 10; 12; “Who, believed what we have heard? And, the arm of Yahwéh, to whom was it revealed? 2 When he came up as a sapling before him, And as a root–sprout (shorésh) out of dry ground… 7 as a lamb to the slaughter (EBR)… 10 whose soul will be made a guilt offering for our sin… 12 in death…and then prolong his days…and make intercession for the transgressors.”

Background

Many of the Natsârím were first disciples of Yahwḥanan Ben Zaḳaryáhw (John the Baptist). They lived according to the Covenants, Commandments, and Promises recorded in the sacred Hebrew Scriptures. These have come down to us as, “the Torah, the Nevi’im, and the Ketuvim – the Law, Prophets, and other Writings” – The TaNaK. In addition to these, the Natsârím, and other Jews, embraced and used other writings that faithfully oriented, interpreted, and expounded upon those core documents, such as those termed, the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha, and others, two of which, were Enoch and Jubilees. And of course, they provided their own testimony and instructions, the base of which was the original, but lost, Hebrew Gospel, reflected in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and preserved for us in the most authentic copies and proper translations of the ‘New Testament’ and other works; And these, sadly, have been grossly misinterpreted, mistranslated, and misrepresented by various Jewish, Messianic, and Christian groups throughout history. And, thus, with our own writings, we are attempting to re-orient them within their original Hebraic context, with proper coherence, continuity, and order.

Persecution

The High Priest, and certain other elders said of the Apostle Sha’ul,
“We have found this man [the Emmissary Sha’ul] to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Yahudim/Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Natsârím sect.” (Acts 24:5)

The Natsârím were mocked, persecuted, murdered, first by some of their Jewish brethren in the Government of their day, then by idolatrous Romans, and then by later a hybird-Christianity. Those not murdered, were either exiled, hidden or absorbed into various Jewish and Christian Communities. One can sense within the emergence of various groups since then, the desire to find and return to the ancient paths. Notice this testimony:

Bishop Epiphanius: “This sect of Nazareans {Natsârím}…also were called Jessaeans {Yisha’im – Esseans – Essenes} because of Jesse {Isaiah 11:1} …since David was descended from Jesse…these sectarians… did not call themselves Christians – but ‘Nazoraeans’… they are not in accord with Christians …they are nothing but Jews…different from the Jews and different from Christians… They have the Good News according to Matthew in its entirety in Hebrew. For it is clear that they still preserve this, in the Hebrew alphabet, as it was originally written… they are still fettered by the Law [Torah] – Circumcision, the Sabbath, and the rest… as to Christ, I cannot say whether…they regard him as a mere man [born of both Yosef and Miryam, or was born only by ‘the ever-virgin’ by the holy spirit]…”  They use not only the New Testament but the Old Testament as well, as the Jews do…They have no different ideas, but confess everything exactly as the Law proclaims it and in the Jewish fashion…For they acknowledge both the resurrection of the dead and the divine creation of all things, and declare that God is one, and that his son is Yeshua the Messiah. They are trained to a nicety in Hebrew. We believe in the One True G-d – Adonái Yahwéh Elohíym. He is the Supernal One Who is Existence itself and Causes All Other Existence. He is the sole Creator and Father of all that exists in the world and all those in it, whether visible or invisible, whether in the heavens or on the earth or under the earth. In essence, He is one infinite being and person, and humanly indescribable, having no beginning and no ending. He has no co-equal co-eternal co-essential partners that share His essence and being. He is incomprehensible to His creation and absolutely other – separate from and other than – His creation and children… As the seraphim proclaim,

“Qadosh, Qadosh, Qadosh, is Yahwéh Tsavaót;
the whole earth is filled with His kavód!”
Isaiah 6:3

With foreknowledge and predetermination, with an eternal love, with purpose and plan, He created the heavens and the various orders of spirit-beings therein. He ‘stepped-down’ from His infinity to reveal Himself in a way comprehensible to them. He created the earth and formed earthly beings therein. From humanity, He chose His people and manifested Himself to them in ways comprehensible to them and established an Everlasting Covenant with them. He revealed Himself to and through saints and prophets, whom He chose to teach, and from whom the sacred scriptures were brought down to us. He, ‘stepped-down’ from His infinity to be manifested into our human consciousness and revealed Himself upon His Throne in a human-like mode and form, in visions and dreams, and by a gentle voice. These also He authorized and sent as His agents to teach humanity. He continues to manifest Himself, His presence and power in various degrees, in the mode of the ‘ruach ha’qodesh’ (holy-inspiration). He continues in His personal oversight and guidance of all aspects of His creation, directing them until the saying is fulfilled,

But as truly as I live, all the earth
shall be filled with the glory of Yahwéh.”

Hebrews 1:1-2; 3; 4; Yahweh Elohíym, Who spoke to the fathers by the prophets in times past, in many and varied ways, has spoken to us in these last days [1] through the Son, whom HE has appointed heir of all things; in view of whom, also, HE crafted the ages of the world: He being “the Branch”* bearing HIS kavód and the true reflection of HIS character, and confirming all the word of HIS power while in the flesh, he made a purification of our sins by himself. He sat down at the right hand of the MAJESTY ON-HIGH, having become greatly superior to the angels, as he has inherited a designation [as Malki-Tsedeq] more superb than they. *The Peshitta reads – Tsemáḥ – Branch – which is a synonym of Nĕtsér. See Is 4:2; Jer 23:5; 33:15; Zech 3:8; 9; 10; 6:12;13;

Hebrews 1:8; 9; Moreover, to the Son [Dawíḍ ha’Méleḳ says to his future offspring by the spirit of prophesy, in Ps 45:6; 7; ], “Your Throne O Elohíym [King/Judge/Magistrate] is forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Because of this, Elohíym, your Elohíym, has anointed you with the oil of exuberant joy beside your brothers.

Hebrews 5:4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10;   And no man takes this honor unto himself, but he that is called of Yahwéh. So also Yahwshua ha’Mashíaḥ did not magnify himself to be made a Kohen ha’Gadól; but HE that said unto him, “You are MY son, this day have I begotten you.” Ps. 2:7 As he says also in another place, “You are a kohen forever after the order of MalkiTsedéq.” Ps. 110:4

Hebrews 4:14; 15; 16;   So, since we have a Great Chief-Kohen who has traversed the shamáyim, Yahwshúa Ben Elohíym, let us hold fast our confessional-oath. For we do not have a Kohen ha’Gadól unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who was tested in all respects as we are; [who, by resisting sin unto the shedding of his blood, was] without sin. Therefore, let us come boldly to the Throne of favor, that we may obtain mercy, and find favor to help in the time of need.

Hebrews 10:19; 20; 21; 22;   Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Miqdásh by ‘the blood’ of YahwShúa, by the new and living way that he inaugurated for us through the curtain, (that is, through the days of his flesh), and since we have a Kohen ha’Gadól over the House of Elohíym, let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that emunáh brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 12:22-29 By Faithfulness/Faithful-Obedience, we have drawn near to Mt Tsión—the city of the living Elohíym—the celestial Yerushalém extending-down to us (the stairway of Ya’aqóv), and to myriads of angels, to the Festive Gathering and Assembly of the Firstborn, who are enrolled in the shamáyim, and to Yahwéh, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous who have been made perfect, and to YahwShúa, the Mediator of a New Covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than the blood of Abel. Take heed not to refuse the ONE speaking.  For if those did not escape who refused the warning on earth, much less will we who turn away from HIM speaking from the shamáyim, WHOSE voice then shook the earth…Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable Kingdom Dan 7:27; 12:1; 2; 33; let us embrace the favor by which we serve Elohíym acceptably with reverence and awe, for truly, Yahwéh Elohéynu is a consuming fire.  Rev 21:1; 22:1;
